I passed the Technician exam in December 2024, General in February 2025, and Extra in February 2026, but I have been a radio hobbyist since the early 1980s. My amateur radio equipment currently includes a Yaesu FT-DX10, Yaesu FTM-500DR, Anytone AT-D878UVII, and D578UVIII Plus. I also have a Yaesu FT-991A at a secondary QTH in Northeast Tennessee. I am working on setting it up for remote operation from Fort Lauderdale.
I mainly operate HF for POTA from the Everglades, Big Cypress National Preserve, or several of the state parks in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale area. I usually use a Chameleon SS25 telescopic vertical on a GRA-ULT01 MK3 tripod. I am also working on adding a Spooltenna EFHW with a POTA33H to my setup.
